About
Anne Oeldorf-Hirsch is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at University of Connecticut, where she conducts research in the Human-Computer Interaction lab. Broadly, her research interest is on the use of social media for information sharing, community building, and well-being. Specifically, her work investigates the features of these communities that shape how we communicate with and through them. Her recent work focuses on the role of algorithmic literacy in how users understand social media platforms, particularly for highly targeted content on apps such as Instagram and TikTok.
