Laura Uzar is a first year PhD student. Her primary research focuses on improving outcomes for currently and formerly incarcerated individuals, with an emphasis on the communication processes involved in all aspects of reform. She holds an M.A. in Communication from the University of Connecticut. Laura is currently a teaching assistant and is interested in applications of media literacy, political communication, and mass communication, and their role in shaping public opinion and institutional practices around incarceration.
